No specific Title...

Geez... been a while since I posted. Been really busy studying, Its finals ya know. I try to do the best in school ,I am paying for it you know. I feel that I am doing well so far. I have one more final to take next Wed. Then it is off for a few weeks until my summer classes. 3 more semesters until I graduate with a degree in Water Tech. C'mon fall 2011 (my last semester). I wish that I would have done this years ago, but better late than never. It has been a great experience being in college. I guess that is partially to do with the fact that I have had great Instructors. well it is off to the store for groceries.

I have been contemplating getting another dog to replace the Husky/ German Shep mix that we had pass away 6 months ago. We (my Wife and I) have learned that we need a short hair dog (allergies) that has a great temperament (good with kids i.e. niece and nephew), that is still aggressive looking enough to ward off any would be threats to my wife while I am not home, but not too large (we live in an apartment after all). Well after much deliberation I figured on an English Bulldog. Medium size dog that looks really tough. Short hair and genetically great temperament.

So I go looking for a dog. Well to even think about getting one they are $1500.00 to $2500.00. YIKES!!! Half of the people that have them are "Back-yard Breeders". DOUBLE YIKES!!! OK how about a rescue??

Well there are several rescues here in Southern California. Be good to give a dog a second chance, right? After all Smiley, our recently passed Husky mix, was from a rescue. So I go searching for that perfect Bulldog that will fit our home and have a second chance on life. I find several GREAT candidates. I contact the various rescues and what do I find??? Cost just about as much to get a dog from the rescue as it does to get a new pup. I understand that there are costs involved with rescuing a dog, spay/neuter shots etc. But at least ask for a donation( That is all we did to get Smiley, and it was voluntary.) With all the begging and pleading to give these animals a second chance on life and keep them from getting euthanized, Why would you deny a prospective home because of limited money. I would rather allocate my limited funds to the dog directly, i.e. good healthy diet, toys, accessories.

I will keep looking for the perfect bulldog that will make a good fit in our home. What ever dog that we do end up with will have a great life, and probably be spoiled rotten... lol.

WOW!!!

I was amazed today. Last Monday I was talking to my Water Mathematics instructor before class and we were discussing the BP oil spill/ leak. I was explaining how BP was under-reporting the amount of oil that was leaking into the Gulf of Mexico and used the Math that my instructor taught me to back up my theory. I guess I was correct in my theory because BP has since restated the amount of oil that is being released in the the waters off the coast of Louisiana. I suppose I must have made an impression because My instructor gave me credit in his blog Drovla. Mr. Mike Alvord, I thank you for the credit and must say I gained the knowledge from You in your classes.

I would go work for the government but I don't think that I would like to be paid in Renminbi (Chinese currency) because we all know our government is broke.

Once again I am distracted by the Dodger game so I must go and watch my Boys in Blue beat the Tigers.

Here I sit listening to the dodger game on the radio. I prefer to listen to the game rather than watch it on TV. That and right now I can't afford to pay for the TV package that has that channel. I sit here and wonder what it would be like to make 20-something million a year. MUST BE NICE!!!!! I am sure everyone has the dream if they won the lottery. Mine, well I guess I would invest most of it so I could be sure that my wife and our future kids would be taken care of. I am sure I would splurge some. Buy a house with some property, a brand new car for my great wife (probably a Ford Edge with all the bells and whistles) and a Harley for me. But that is all dreams. I guess where I am going with this is we all have dreams, what we do with them is what is the difference between those that do and those that just wish. That reminds me of my mantra... There are those that want, those that wish and those that make it happen. There is no such thing as a free lunch, and that is why socialism will never work. Yeah is sounds great to live off of somebody else's dime but what are you going to do when their money runs out?? And what about your sense of self worth?? It always feel better to earn something than to have it given to you, it means more. Life is what you make it!!

Well the Dodgers are up 3-1 in the 7th. Gonna go listen to my boys in blue earn their money. GO DODGERS!!!! Beat them Padres!!!!

Where's My Money Tree?

Here it is coming to the end of May, and I still have not been able to find work. I have been laid off of work since Oct. 2008. That is 1 year and 7 months. It is not that I am not searching for work(double negative). The supply of jobs out there are very limited. I have had a few very good prospective positions, but there seemed to be a better qualified applicant. To play my little violin here for a second I did lose my job to illegal immigrants, me and about 8 other persons. California's unemployment rate is 12.5% EDD press release But what is the solution? It seem like everyone has an idea. My Idea is to lower taxes and make California more business friendly. We are one of the highest taxed states, I am not at all surprised that hiring is not on the top of the list for businesses here. There is also that new Health Care Law that is going to mandate coverage for businesses that are larger than 49 persons.(I would put the link to the healthcare bill but I didn't think that you wanted to sift through those thousands of pages, I sure didn't and most of Congress didn't either) Another reason to not hire. We as a country and a state are in a bad spot right now. I have a feeling that it is going to get worse after the false platform of the stimulus runs out. So my solution again is LOWER TAXES, make California more business friendly, even if that means that those FAT CAT, heavy spending politicians in Sacramento have to STOP SPENDING!!!! I swear if I ran my check book like our government does theirs I would be in jail for check FRAUD.

Well I will stay in school for now (I graduate in 3 semesters) and if I can't find work then it is off to a more work friendly state. Probably Arizona

How stupid is stupid???

I just don't get it!!! Arizona has passed a law that makes it illegal to be an illegal immigrant. I have read the law, SB 1070 ,and it protects persons from racial profiling. Well Our Mayor here in Los Angeles as well as the City Counsel have found it necessary to boycott Arizona. Arizona replies with a letter telling Los Angeles that they may cut power to Los Angeles, Arizona Corp. Commission letter to Los Angeles Mayor . This will hurt the people of Los Angeles in their pocket book, as if we are not already hurting.

If you have a problem with the law in Arizona, take it up with the Arizona Government in court. Simple right??? Why take a stance that will hurt the average people of Arizona and cause a retaliation that will hurt the people of Los Angeles?? Did I forget to mention that Arizona is housing Convicted California Prisoners,

What if Arizona decides to return these Inmates? California prisons are already overcrowded, they will just end up on the streets.
